【英語で啓発授業】”Diversities in Digestion”
都内某所のインターナショナルスクールで Diversities in Digestion（消化の多様性）という授業をしました。
もったいないパウチ（使用期限切れの「おなかの袋」）と想像力を使って、ストーマのこと、オストメイトのこと、知ってもらいました。
異なるタイプのパウチ（おなかの袋）を渡して「はーい！先っちょにキャップついてる人！手ぇ挙げて～
」とワーキャーやりとりしながら(笑) オストメイトにもいろんな人がいること、見たことのあるマークや標識でも、それが何かを知らずに過ごす人が多いこと、などお話しました。
」とワーキャーやりとりしながら(笑) オストメイトにもいろんな人がいること、見たことのあるマークや標識でも、それが何かを知らずに過ごす人が多いこと、などお話しました。授業の間ずっと、質問が止まらなかったのも印象的でした。質問の内容にはその人の気持ちがあらわれるので、オストメイトに寄り沿う気持ちと知的好奇心がエエ塩梅のバランスで混ざった質問に丁寧に答えていくことで、私もいつもと違う話を思い出したり。
学びの場って、パワースポットです
「ぜひまた来年も！」というありがたいオファーもいただき、今後は英語での啓発授業/講座も増やしていきたいと思います。
今日10月4日はワールド・オストミー・デイ！「Happy World Ostomy Day!」という掛け声で写真を撮ったのですが、私だけトリみたいな顔してました

So I came up with a special advocacy class using expired ostomy bags.I was invited by an international school in Tokyo and taught a class for 5th graders. I designed a session called “Diversities in Digestion” to explain how ostomates process food, how a stoma works, and why each bag is different.
To make invisible disabilities visible, I use many visual aids and invite students to use their imaginations. Ostomy bags are one of these aids, and there are many details you can notice by looking closely at them. Each difference can lead to a discussion about different types of stoma, why they’re made that way, and why that matters.
Students were very excited and motivated to learn, and I received many great questions from them.
I think this is the best way to celebrate World Ostomy Day:)
